ADVANCED ENERGY
The lot of EPCs Process for the construction of this biomass power plant was assigned to our energy specialists in partnership with the Berkes company. Construction work began in 2018 on the site of the Cacao power plant in Guyana, the name of the village where it is located.
The EPC contract includes engineering, supply, construction and commissioning of the boiler island, the water/steam cycle including the turbine and associated equipments, as well as the high and low voltage electrical equipments and command control of the unit.
With an installed capacity of 5.1 MWe, this biomass power plant was developed by Voltalia, an international player in renewable energy, which also operates the plant.
The commissioning was effected in May 2020. The Cacao plant functions on the basis of the combustion of locally produced wood waste , from forestry operations managed sustainably by the Office National des Forêts (ONF) and from sawmills. By valorizing wood that is currently abandoned or burned in the forest and by replacing diesel-powered solutions, the project presents a virtuous carbon balance, with 28,500 tons of CO2 avoided per year.
